IF : Hide

For last week’s Illustration Friday theme of “Hide”, I thought I would go with something from the book I am currently reading … Robert Louis Stevenson’s The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. A great buy (even if it hadn’t been only 99¢ at Goodwill), I am loving the way it is reading right now … literarily comfortable and greatly intriguing.
I did this piece with a mechanical pencil and some of my new PrismaColor markers that the Jodie got me for Christmas. It came out really well, though I still need to take a chance on trying to blending multiple colors together and not stick to just grays and black.
Oh, and if you think I cheated by using “hyde” instead of “hide”, I say blame Mr. Utterson. He’s the one that said,”if he be Mr. Hyde … I shall be Mr. Seek.” ;)
If he could but once set eyes on him, he thought the mystery would lighten and perhaps roll altogether away … At least it would be a face worth seeing: the face of a man who was without bowels of mercy: a face which had but show itself to raise up … a spirit of enduring hatred.

Wow, this is really fantastic. The basic forms are great, and the details and shading effectively bring it to life. Impressive talent!
